Error: Can't open display:

Hi

i have installed Fedora3 on my laptop.
and i wont to lunch a remote X aplication.
When i log into another machinde and lunch an X
application i get the following messege:

Error: Can't open display:

Did anybody know this problem, and have a solution for me?

Regarding your problem..
The error tells that there is no DISPLAY environment set on the remote machine. This is required to forward a remote X11 session.

There a two possibilities getting a X11 application from a remote host forwarded to your local machine:

- Use SSH-X11 forwarding. Connect to the remote host via "ssh -X" If SSH X11-forwarding is enabled on that machine you should be able to just start it.

- Usual X11 forwarding. You have to allow remote hosts to forward X11 sessions to you local machine. This is done per "xhost" see the manpage for further infromation. You also have to set the DISPLAY environment yourself on the remote host.
