Grub eignet sich nicht wirklich für USB-Sticks.
Man könnte Grub vielleicht in den BR einer Partition auf dem Stick installieren und dann "chainloaden"...
Ich würd' auf jeden Fall einen anderen Boot-Loader benutzen, schon allein weil Grub nicht ohne Modifikationen mit UUIDs klar kommt, welche bei USB eine größere Bedeutung haben.
